تجاهل ديفيد جيمس حارس مرمى ليفربول ومانشستر سيتي السابق، اختيار الثنائي محمد صلاح وساديو ماني في تشكيل الأفضل للمباراة المرتقبة التي ستجمع الفريقين يوم الأحد القادم.

ليفربول سيحل ضيفًا على مانشستر سيتي بملعب الاتحاد، في إطار مباريات الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز لموسم 2021-2022.

مثل حارس المرمى السابق كلا الناديين خلال مسيرة رائعة حدثت بين عامي 1988 و2014، ويلتقي فريقه القديم يوم الأحد في مباراة من المقرر أن يكون لها تداعيات كبيرة على سباق اللقب.

قبل المباراة، اختار جيمس التشكيلة المثالية له، ووضع 4 فقط من لاعبي ليفربول مقارنة بسبعة لاعبين للسيتي، لم يجد مكانًا لـ محمد صلاح أو ماني، لكن الجناح الجديد لويس دياز يشكل دورًا في التشكيل.

واختار جيمس أفضل تشكيل من لاعبي الفريقين معًا ويضم أليسون في حراسة المرمى، ووكر وفان دايك ودياز وروبرتسون في الدفاع، وثلاثي الوسط رودري ودي بروين وبرناردو سيلفا، وفي الهجوم رحيم سترلينج وفيل فودين ولويس دياز.

ونشرت صحيفة “ذا صن” البريطانية تصريحاته جيمس في حديثه إلى “Genting Casino”، وأوضح البالغ من العمر 51 عامًا: “لقد وضعت أليسون فوق إيدرسون بناءً على حقيقة أن أليسون كان لديه المزيد ليفعله”.

وأضاف: “إذا كنت تأخذ في الاعتبار مدى أهمية أليسون في الحفاظ على نظافة الشباك والتصديات في الأشهر القليلة الماضية، أعتقد أنه في المباريات القليلة الماضية ركل إيدرسون الكرة فوق خط المنتصف مرتين”.

وتابع:”اخترت روبرتسون في مركز الظهير الأيسر على حساب جواو كانسيلو، لأنه لا يسدد بنفس القدر، وبالتالي لا يعطي الكرة بنفس القدر”.

وواصل جيمس: “لدي لويس دياز وفيرجيل فان دايك، وسأذهب إلى كايل ووكر، والسبب هو أنه سيكون هناك الكثير من المساحة وسيحتاج إلى العودة والدفاع”.

وأكمل: “أحب تقدم ترينت ألكسندر أرنولد للأمام وهو مدافع لائق، لكني كنت سأختار ووكر بدلًا منه”.

واستطرد جيمس: “في خط الوسط أختار ثلاثي مانشستر سيتي رودري ودي بروين وبرناردو سيلفا”.

وعن الهجوم، أوضح: “سأذهب إلى رحيم سترلينج وفيل فودين ولويس دياز في خط الهجوم، لذا لا محمد صلاح!، لكن إذا سألتني مرة أخرى خلال نصف ساعة، فربما أقول فريقًا مختلفًا تمامًا!”.

يعتقد جيمس أن مانشستر سيتي يمكن أن يحاصر ليفربول واسترسل: “لا أستطيع أن أقول إنها مباراة حسم لقب، لأنه ما زالت هناك ثماني أو تسع مباريات”.

وأفاد: “أعتقد أن ذلك يعتمد على من سيفوز، على أساس بسيط أنه إذا فاز ليفربول، فمن الصعب رؤيتهم يفقدون اللقب”.

وأصر جيمس: “علينا دائمًا استخدام الماضي كمؤشر، إذا نظرت إليهم قبل عامين، فقد كانوا في سلسلة انتصارات متتالية من 18 مباراة، سيكونون قادرين على المضي قدمًا حتى نهاية الموسم والفوز بجميع مبارياتهم”.

وأتم: “كنت في مباراة أتلتيكو مدريد وذهبت أيضًا إلى مباراتي تشيلسي هذا الموسم، وأنا أعلم أن السيتي قادر على خنق الفرق ويمكنهم فعل ذلك ضد ليفربول”.

The Lowdown: Howe deal collapses

The Hoops had been linked with a move for Eddie Howe to take over from Neil Lennon for a number of weeks, but that proposed deal collapsed on Friday afternoon.

Stephen McGowan was the first to break the news of a deal falling through after a breakdown in talks, with the Daily Mail reporter adding that the club were in ‘advanced talks’ with another candidate.

It seems as if that man is Postecoglou, with the 55-year-old close to swapping Japan for Scotland.

The Latest: Percy’s late-night claim

Percy shared the news late on Friday evening on social media, saying:

“Celtic in advanced talks with Ange Postecoglou and are tonight close to appointing him as manager. Postecoglou, 55, has been working in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos”

Postecoglou has held roles in Japan, Greece and his native Australia, taking charge of 349 games as a manager. He led the Socceroos at the 2014 World Cup and won the Asian Cup with his homeland the following year.

He has averaged just over three years in each role and prefers a 4-3-3 system, according to Transfermarkt.

The Verdict: Harkin already making moves?

In our opinion, we think Fergal Harkin may have had a major say on a proposed move for Postecoglou. The Irishman is thought to be edging closer to a move to Celtic Park, with the ‘massive’ Hoops fan set to land the newly-created Director of Football (DoF) role.

Currently Manchester City’s football partnerships manager, he may know all about Postecoglou already, as Yokohama are part of the City Football Group.

On that basis, we feel that Harkin, who looks set for a move to Celtic, may have pushed for a move for the Australian following the huge twist in their pursuit of Howe. If that is the case, it seems as if the impending DoF is already making moves at Parkhead.

وأضاف: “أكرر حديثي لكم، أنا فخور لأني لعبت معكم وهذا شرف لي، وما حدث لا يستطيع أحد أن يتدخل فيه، لأننا خسرنا بركلات الجزاء للمرة الثانية ولا يوجد شيء أكثر من ذلك أستطيع أن أقوله”.

وتابع حديثه برسالة غامضة للاعبين قائلاً: “كان لي الشرف أني لعبت معكم سواءً كنت موجودًا أو غير موجود”، ليقاطعة أشرف صبحي وزير الشباب والرياضة قائلًا: “منتخب مصر كله موجود إن شاء الله”.

West Ham United dodged a bullet with their failed pursuit of Josh Maja in January as the Girondins de Bordeaux striker has proven to be a flop at Fulham.

The Irons were credited with an interest in a move for Maja before the Frenchman joined Scott Parker’s relegation-threatened Cottagers on loan, with the Sunderland product targeted as a replacement for Sebastien Haller.

David Moyes held a keen awareness in the 22-year-old as he faced an uncertain future in Ligue 1 after falling out of favour at the Matmut Atlantique, where Jean Louis Gasset had awarded Maja only 11 starts in 17 top-flight appearances this term.

Fulham eventually came to his rescue and offered Maja a move to the Premier League on Deadline Day, and would seal his signature on a half-season loan that carries a £9m option to purchase.

It remains to be seen if the south west Londoners intend to buy the one-time Nigeria international, but his form across the capital will have given West Ham confidence that they made the right decision by walking away from negotiations with Bordeaux.

Maja made his 11th outing for the Cottagers on Sunday as they held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw thanks to the London-born forward converting from the spot inside a quarter of an hour of the second half, after Gabriel Magalhaes was deemed to have fouled Mario Lemina.

It was only the third goal that Maja has scored for Parker’s side since his arrival after a brace at Everton in February, after being given the first start in the Premier League of his career at Goodison Park.

He has since started just a further seven top-flight games but failed to have any direct involvement in the scoring, and has only helped Fulham to clinch nine additional points in their quest for survival.

Parker expected Maja to boost the Cottagers’ threat in the final third when his signing was finalised, as “the boy’s a finisher” and he settled into his new club quickly.

Parker said, via quotes by the Independent: “I’m very pleased we’ve got him with us and have got him on board, and I’m looking forward to seeing his qualities and working with him.”

But Maja has proven to be an underwhelming signing for Fulham that West Ham did well to avoid, having directed just 0.5 shots on target per Premier League game and offered little offensive creativity for his Cottagers teammates with 0.5 key passes, per WhoScored.

Haller may not have set the world alight in claret and blue with three goals in 16 Premier League games this term, but had offered West Ham a marginally superior option with 0.7 on-target efforts and 0.6 key passes on average a game.

Antonio, meanwhile, has seven goals in 21 appearances this term thanks to striking one of his average 2.4 shots on target per game, and has offered the second-most assists (5) at the London Stadium from an average of one key pass an outing.

If West Ham had been the ones to unveil Maja as a Deadline Day signing, he would likely have spent the following months sitting on the bench waiting for his chance, having proven to be a flop at Fulham where minutes have been more regularly forthcoming.

Since signing in January, Willian Jose has had a torrid time in the Midlands. Wolves look no better with him leading the line, and it looks increasingly unlikely they’ll sign him permanently.

Jose was an eye-catching arrival. The Spaniard has proven pedigree in La Liga but he has struggled in the Premier League. He hasn’t scored in a Wolves shirt, registering just 19 touches in the area during 11 hours of football.

In that time frame, he’s had just ten shots at goal; clearly he is not the Raul Jimenez replacement Wolves were so desperately seeking.

Fabio Silva has hardly provided much either. The Portuguese was signed for big money last summer, £35.6m in fact, and has scored just twice in the top-flight.

Jimenez is still to return but you sense that Wolves could do with some added firepower when the transfer window opens.

One player they could target is Ivan Toney. The Brentford striker has been sublime this season in the Championship and as such, is attracting the eyes of not only the Old Gold but also Arsenal, Leicester and Leeds United.

The Bees have slapped a £30m price tag on his head and you can understand why. Toney has been exhilarating this term, bagging 27 goals in just 35 matches following his arrival from Peterborough.

Toney is also creative. The forward has registered nine assists in the second tier this term, proving to be a complete all-round player.

It’s hard to deny that he isn’t better than Jose at this moment in time. Everything the Wolves target touches seemingly turns to gold while everything Jose touches goes awry.

Signing the Brentford striker, therefore, could be game-changing. He knows where the back of the net is and has pace in abundance.

He would also arrive with glowing appraisals. Before signing for the London outfit, Posh owner Barry Fry commented: “He’s turned into a tremendous all-round footballer. It’s important to remember Ivan is not just an exceptional goal-scoring forward, he’s also an outstanding defender.”

Those sentiments are also felt by Brentford manager Thomas Frank: “Ivan is a special, special player,” he said.

£30m would be a lot to pay, but as Shi proved with the arrival of Silva last summer, he is willing to pay up. Considering how lethal Toney has been, he’d definitely be worth the investment.
