Naim, Shakib, Mustafizur help Bangladesh stay alive with first points

Oman had hopes in the chase but mainly till Jatinder Singh was at the crease

Mohammad Isam19-Oct-2021Bangladesh survived for another couple of days in the T20 World Cup after a hard-fought 26-run win over Oman. The home side rode high until Jatinder Singh was at the crease, but Bangladesh removed him in the 13th over, and used their experience to close out the game in the last seven overs.Earlier, Mohammad Naim’s 64 had given Bangladesh a good platform for the last five overs, but they failed to build on it, slipping from 101 for 2 in the 14th over to 153 all out. Shakib Al Hasan contributed with 42 off 29, while fast bowlers Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt got three wickets each.Jatinder kept Oman in the game with his 40 off 33 balls, that included four fours and a six. He also put together two good partnerships in the top order, but Mahedi Hasan bowled a superbly tight spell, before Mustafizur Rahman, unusually erratic in his first spell, finished with 4 for 36.A quiet spell
When Oman moved to 57 for 2 in the seventh over, Bangladesh were really looking down the barrel. Mahedi coolly bowled two overs for six runs, slowing down Jatinder and Zeeshan Maqsood in the process. Mahedi is good at mixing his pace, but keeps a fuller length. He has a good record against both left and right-handed batters. In the midst of a messy bowling performance from Bangladesh, Mahedi stood out. Maqsood couldn’t resist anymore with the changes of pace, finally holing out in Mahedi’s next over, before the offspinner finished off with a six-run over. This 4-0-14-1 spell went by mostly unnoticed, but it was Mahedi who brought Bangladesh back in the game.Jatinder’s near one-man show
Oman, however, had hope as long as Jatinder was at the crease. So good is Jatinder’s form these days that even when he gets out, it’s off a very well-timed shot. He was dismissed when he swept for a catch to Liton Das at deep square leg off Shakib. But it was an innings worth remembering against a top quality bowling attack. At times Bangladesh looked under pressure against Jatinder.Jatinder Singh kept Oman’s hopes alive for a while•ICC via GettyHe started with a switch hit four off Shakib early on, pulled him over deep midwicket in the seventh over, and his only six came on the next ball when he struck Shakib inside-out through extra cover. Off Taskin Ahmed’s bouncer, Jatinder slammed a pull, and was generally strong against the short ball as well. He also survived a dropped catch on 10, but when he got out, so did Oman from the match. They hit just one four and a six after his dismissal.Mustafizur’s nightmare and Mustafizur’s recovery
Mustafizur trapped Aqib Ilyas with his first ball of the match, but thereafter had a forgettable 15 minutes. He conceded five wides in the first over, as his attempt to bring the seaming ball back into the right-handed batter kept slipping down the leg side. In the next over, Mustafizur dropped Kashyap Prajapati at short third man. It was a regulation diving chance to his favourable left side, but it popped out.As if all that was not enough, Mahmudullah dropped Jatinder on 10, off Mustafizur. The bowler fumed with his hands over his head, but because this was his captain, he couldn’t really react like he would have wanted. Mustafizur’s four-wicket haul and a good running catch more than made up for his nightmare start, but Bangladesh can ill-afford an erratic main bowler.Naim to the rescue
When Bangladesh batted, they story of poor powerplays continued. They scored only 29 runs on this occasion, but at least one of the openers made a considerable score. Naim had been struggling in the Dhaka pitches against Australia and New Zealand, except for one innings, but in Muscat, he opened up with some bright shots. He tonked three of his four sixes delightfully over the range between midwicket and wide long-on, also bringing out a thumping straight drive and an equally hard-hit reverse hit. Naim added 80 for the third wicket with Shakib but his dismissal in the 17th over, having already lost Afif Hossain earlier in the over, was slightly unnecessary.Oman blow hot and cold in the field
Oman could have had a better day had they held on to all their catches. Particularly that of Naim who survived two drops on 18 and 26. Prajapati, who had earlier dropped Liton at deep square leg, spilled Naim at midwicket. And Jatinder let the ball slip through his fingers at the sweeper cover boundary in the eighth over. But their luck changed with two moments of brilliance: Butt’s return catch off a Mahedi bunt and Ilyas’ direct hit from point running out Shakib. The mood lifted, Oman now took all their catches, including Jatinder, who took two near the boundary line.Bangladesh end meekly
If there was one chance to make up for their poor powerplay, it was the last five overs. But Bangladesh disappointed with just 41 runs, losing six wickets. It started with Naim hitting a beautiful six, but Kaleemullah removed Afif and Naim in the following over. It left Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah to make the most of the last 20 balls, They hit a six and a four, before Mushfiqur was caught behind, while Bilal yorked at Mahmudullah’s wild swing. Mohammad Saifuddin got a golden duck in between, before Oman bowled out Bangladesh off the last ball of the innings.

"Sharp" £60,000-p/w Leeds star now has new injury and will miss Coventry

In a frustrating blow for Daniel Farke, Leeds United will once again be forced to cope without one star player following a recent injury update ahead of their clash against Coventry City this Saturday.

Leeds injury news

Given how their squad was decimated by the summer transfer window, Leeds could at least do with a full side to choose from as they look to make up for last season’s promotion heartbreak by returning to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

So far, however, that has not been the case. Farke has been forced to cope without the likes of Joe Rodon and Maximilian Wober at different stages of the campaign, in which his side initially struggled to remain consistent.

As things stand in the Championship, Leeds sit sixth and five points adrift of West Bromwich Albion at the top of the league. The Yorkshire club have finally shown glimpses of their quality in recent weeks though, to put a poor start behind them with one loss in their last five league games.

If they are to continue their recent form this weekend, however, then Farke’s side will have to do so without one summer signing. As confirmed by Farke, Leeds will be without Manor Solomon when they play host to Coventry this weekend after the Tottenham Hotspur loanee suffered a new injury.

The winger had just recovered from a back problem and looked on course to return on Saturday, but a hamstring injury has now delayed that return, much to the frustration of those at Elland Road.

Leeds missed out on £54m star in the making just after they signed Augustin

Leeds United dropped the ball not snapping up this top star when they could have.

ByKelan Sarson Sep 27, 2024

Speaking on team news ahead of Coventry, Farke told reporters: “A few injury updates. Manor’s back issues have resulted in a hamstring problem and will miss this game. Dan still out, Max had a setback in training with his knee. There’s a question mark with Pascal and his adductor, not able to train today.”

More frustration for "sharp" Solomon

After showing glimpses of his quality in the early stages of the season, a second injury setback in as many weeks will undoubtedly leave Solomon feeling incredibly frustrated. His loan spell to Elland Road was supposed to hand the winger crucial game time as he looks to rediscover the form that initially earned him a big move to Spurs in the first place. But as things stand, there will be concerns over his ability to remain fit and firing.

Farke will certainly hope to see the £60,000-a-week loanee return after Coventry, having told reporters via Leeds United News earlier in the campaign: “Solomon has experience in England. He has shown a lot. He was a bit in his rhythm already. I was sure he could deliver with his experience and he did. It was also crucial to give that perfect assist. He looked sharp in training.”

Following Coventry, Leeds travel to Norwich City in a repeat of last season’s play-off semi-final, in which the Whites eventually eased past the Canaries in dominant fashion.

Roy Keane rubbishes Trent Alexander-Arnold's chances of sealing Real Madrid transfer as Liverpool star is torn apart for 'schoolboy' first-half showing vs Man Utd

Roy Keane has rubbished Trent Alexander-Arnold’s links to Real Madrid, claiming his display against Manchester United will lead to a Tranmere move.

The Liverpool defender is seeing his contract at Anfield run down, with free agency set to be hit in the summer of 2025. La Liga giants Real are said to be making efforts to bring him onto their books during the January transfer window.

Alexander-Arnold’s ability going forward, with an impressive haul of assists to his name, has made him of obvious interest to Champions League title holders in Spain. Questions have, however, been asked of his defensive ability over the course of a distinguished career.

WHAT ROY KEANE SAID

More of those were aimed in the England international right-back’s direction during a Premier League clash with United, as the Red Devils exposed frailties in his area of the field and regularly broke into space behind. That led to Keane telling : “We talk about how brilliant Trent is going forward but Trent’s defending today, my goodness. It’s like schoolboy stuff. There’s talk about him going to Real Madrid, but the way he’s defending he’ll be going to Tranmere Rovers after this. Got to do better.”

Liverpool’s Merseyside neighbours quickly responded to that quip, saying on social media: “Trent to Tranmere, Roy? Nah, we're alright thanks.” Said post was accompanied by a picture of wing-back Cameron Norman, who scored their winner against Carlisle last time out.

Newcastle sold a striker for just £2m, now he’s more clinical than Isak

Newcastle United didn't quite hit the mark last season, but mitigating circumstances made it rather hard for Eddie Howe to replicate the feats of the year before.

A seventh-place Premier League finish might've been enough for a place in the Conference League, but Manchester United defeated their city rivals in the FA Cup final and swiped the Magpies' silver.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

A frustrating transfer window followed, but the significance of keeping a hold of the top assets cannot be understated. There was interest in Alexander Isak, but he remains at St. James' Park.

Why keeping Alexander Isak was so important

Two years ago, Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in a club-record signing worth £63m. He endured something of an injury-hit debut campaign but still scored ten goals from just 17 Premier League starts.

As per FBref, he ranks among the top 14% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for non-penalty goals scored, the top 16% for pass completion and the top 10% for progressive carries per 90, so it's clear to see why he's so well regarded. Indeed, according to CIES Football Observatory's player valuation model, he's valued at £82m currently.

Fabrizio Romano said that he was "untouchable" during the off-season despite a glut of proposals and sniffing around from high-profile suitors, and it's looking like the right decision, for he will be the catalyst to fire Newcastle back into continental competition.

He's extremely prolific – one of the best marksmen in Europe, in fact. However, there's a former Magpies flop who's actually proved to be more clinical than the Swedish sensation.

Joselu's even more clinical than Isak

We're talking about Joselu, who's enjoyed quite the career resurgence since departing St. James' Park way back when. The Spanish striker won La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid in May before winning the 2024 European Championship with his nation, defeating England in the final.

Newcastle signed Joselu from Stoke City for £5m in 2017, with Rafa Benitez welcoming his countryman after a middling spell with the Potters that saw him post four goals and three assists over 24 matches.

The nomadic centre-forward, however, flattered to deceive on Tyneside, flopping like a seal and scoring four times across 30 outings, fading into the background after an impressive start – especially so on home turf.

The 34-year-old's second campaign with Newcastle and final year in England proved disastrous, with Joselu notching two goals over the first three games but slumping thereafter, featuring only a few times across the latter half of the season.

It was no surprise when he was sold to Deportivo Alaves for just £2m in 2019. His potent career back in his homeland since has indeed seen him become an unlikely hero for Los Blancos after a prolific few years with Espanyol, scoring 17 goals for Real Madrid last year and notably netting both goals as his side dramatically defeated Bayern Munich in the semi-final of the Champions League.

His exploits have seen him earn a lucrative late-career transfer to Qatar, but according to FBref, the 6 foot 3 ace still ranks among the top 4% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for non-penalty goals scored per 90, at a rate of 0.71.

Isak has bagged at a rate of 0.74 when taking penalties into consideration, but only 0.56 without, speaking highly of Joselu's ball-striking ability.

The older the violin, the sweeter the music. It's a shame that Newcastle couldn't get him playing to their tune.

Talks held: Man Utd target £40m "monster" who has shades of Berbatov

It's been a busy but exciting summer for Manchester United this year.

Erik ten Hag's side weren't overly impressive during the preseason, but the work off of the pitch has been tremendous, with players like Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, and soon Manuel Ugarte joining up to help bring Sir Jim Ratcliffe's vision of a rejuvenated United to life.

However, while most teams would now sit back and take pride in the business they have conducted, the Red Devils look intent on adding at least one more star to their squad.

Erik ten Hag

The latest player touted for a move to Old Trafford could bring a mountain of goals with him and even has shades of a certain Dimitar Berbatov to boot.

Manchester United transfer news

According to a recent report from The Standard, United are once again interested in signing Brentford ace Ivan Toney.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney

In fact, the report claims that the Red Devils have already held initial discussions with the Bees over a potential move, and while the West Londoners want a fee of around £50m, the looming deadline could see the Englishman sold for just £40m.

However, the most significant barrier to this deal going through is that, as things stand, the player would prefer a move to Chelsea, who are also keen to secure his services before the clock strikes 11pm tomorrow.

serhou-guirassy-ivan-toney-tottenham-opinion

That said, given Toney's incredible goal record and potential bargain price, this is a transfer well worth fighting for, especially as there are some apparent similarities to former United star Berbatov.

Toney's similarities to Berbatov

Now, the first thing to say is that while there are certainly some similarities between Toney and Berbatov, especially if this deal goes through, it would be unfair to expect the Brentford ace to match up with the Bulgarian at Old Trafford, as while he was an unorthodox player, the Bulgarian international left the Theatre of Dreams with two league titles, two League Cups, a Club World Cup and two Community Shields under his arm.

Moreover, he also racked up 56 goals and 26 assists in 149 appearances for the club, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.82 games, and while the Englishman might be able to reach those levels, it's still a lot of pressure.

That said, what are these similarities, then? Well, the first is that if this transfer is completed, then both poachers would have joined the Red Devils slightly later in their careers, as the Blagoevgrad-born ace was 27 in 2008, and the former Newcastle United ace is now 28.

Second, the pair of them would have made their big move to the three-time European Champions from a team in the capital, Tottenham Hotspur, in the case of the 79-capped international, and obviously Brentford for the man of the moment.

The final similarity based on the deal itself is that, like Berbatov, the Northampton-born "monster", as dubbed by manager Thomas Frank, would likely complete his transfer on deadline day.

Now, there are also a couple of stylistic similarities between the two stars as well, with the first being the fact that neither one was or is blessed with pace and that their biggest strength on the pitch is their ability to finish, placing the ball exactly where they want it to go.

The final point of comparison between the pair is that they share a level of self-belief that some may see as arrogance or even cockiness. Berbatov's former teammate at Spurs, Jamie O'Hara, described the striker as a "fantastic player" but "so arrogant."

Likewise, Toney has made no secret of how highly he rates himself in recent seasons, making disparaging comments about Brentford on holiday and openly telling interviewers which teams he'd like to play for more recently.

Ultimately, while the Englishman – who has scored 72 goals in 141 games for the Bees – isn't going to be the next coming of the Bulgarian legend at United, he'd undoubtedly bring plenty of goals with him, and therefore, at the reported price, signing him before the window slams shut feels like a no-brainer.

The Perry show floors Mumbai, puts RCB in playoffs

Allrounder smashes the record for best figures in the WPL, before producing a vital unbeaten 40 to snuff out Warriorz and Giants’ top-three hopes

Ashish Pant12-Mar-20242:23

Takeaways: Mandhana’s brave call at the toss pays off

Coming into Royal Challengers Bangalore’s final group game of WPL 2024, Ellyse Perry had not picked up a single wicket in six outings. She more than made up for that by returning the best-ever figures in the WPL, and propelling RCB into the playoffs. It was a sensational display of swing bowling from Perry, who finished with 6 for 15 to help bowl Mumbai Indians out for a mere 113.And Perry wasn’t done yet. With RCB losing their top three quickly, she then carried the chase with an unbeaten 38-ball 40. She had an ally in Richa Ghosh, who remained not out on 36 off 28 as RCB sealed a seven-wicket win in Delhi.RCB’s win snuffed out Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz’s playoff hopes.Mandhana’s decision at the toss bears fruitIt takes a brave captain to go against the tide, especially in a game that could make or break the team’s season. Six of the seven games in the Delhi-leg of the WPL before today had been won by the sides batting first. Even the one that Mumbai won chasing required a Harmanpreet Kaur special. Despite that, Mandhana elected to field, citing the match being played on a fresh surface as the reason. And her decision paid off. With Yastika Bhatia out due to illness, Mumbai had a new opening pair in S Sajana and Hayley Matthews. The duo added 43 for the opening wicket, but once Matthews fell, it was all one-way traffic.Perry magic leaves Mumbai dumbfoundedIt started with a catch, it ended with the poles being hit four times – interspersed by two lbws – as Perry ripped through Mumbai in a sensational display of swing and seam bowling. She was involved in each of the first seven Mumbai wickets to fall and by the time she was done, RCB had one foot in the playoffs.ESPNcricinfo LtdSophie Devine struck first removing Matthews with Perry taking an excellent catch diving forward at deep midwicket. Perry started well with the ball conceding only a run in her first over, but Mumbai were still motoring along at close to eight runs an over. From no wickets off her first nine balls, she picked up six off her next 15 as Mumbai collapsed from 61 for 1 in 8.3 overs to 82 for 7 in 13.It was the good length ball that brought about Mumbai’s undoing. Perry first got through Sajana’s defences with a sharp in-ducker that clattered into her off stump. The very next ball, Perry went away from Harmanpreet who drove at it half-heartedly only to manage a thick inside-edge back onto her stumps. The first ball of her next over, Perry got another good length ball to deviate sharply back into Amelia Kerr, who was rapped on the pads and a loud appeal ensued. RCB challenged the on-field umpire’s not-out decision and were proven right. Amanjot Kaur pulled Perry first ball but was sent back immediately after with another booming inswinger that cut her in half.Perry picked her fifth wicket by cleaning up Pooja Vastrakar and then claimed the WPL record for the best figures off the final ball of her spell trapping Nat-Sciver Brunt in front. In all, Perry bowled 18 dot balls in her four-over spell, leaving Mumbai clueless.Priyanka Bala, on WPL debut, remained unbeaten on 19 to take Mumbai past the 100-mark.Richa Ghosh produced a vital, unbeaten 36 off 28•BCCIPerry, Ghosh take RCB into the playoffsIf six wickets weren’t enough, Perry also starred with the bat after RCB lost their top three quickly. Sophie Molineux, opening the batting for the second game running, had a life on 4 when Sciver-Brunt spilt a simple catch at extra cover. She couldn’t last long though with Matthews getting her stumped for 9. Sciver-Brunt then saw the back of Mandhana the next over before Shabnam Ismail beat Devine for pace.At 39 for 3 after 6.1 overs there would have been some nerves in the RCB camp. Perry settled some of them by hitting Saika Ishaque for a four and six. Ghosh then had a big reprieve when Sciver-Brunt again shelled a simple catch at midwicket off Ismail. And unlike Molineux, Ghosh made Mumbai pay. Both batters paced their innings well and once they got a hang of the surface, they opened up their shoulders. It was fitting that Perry got RCB over the line lofting Vastrakar over mid-on to seal the deal in 15 overs.

Buy back and sell on clause revealed as Willy Kambwala set to leave Man Utd

A Manchester United player who Erik ten Hag has called "brilliant" is close to sealing a move away from Old Trafford this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Man Utd transfer news

While the Red Devils are yet to complete a summer signing to date, it does look as though Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dan Ashworth and Ten Hag are working hard on completing some significant business. Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee looks the most likely next addition for United, with a move for the Dutchman seemingly edging closer all the time, but other players have been also been linked in recent days.

Alongside Zirkzee, Crystal Palace and England midfielder Eberechi Eze has been named as a reported target for United, following an impressive season for the Eagles that saw him stand out as one of their key men. There is plenty of interest in the 26-year-old from other top Premier League clubs, though.

The Red Devils are also rumoured to have turned their attention to Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although whether the club feel the need to bring in both the Englishman and Zirkzee remains to be seen.

With Luke Shaw and injury-prone figure who isn't getting any younger, another left-back needs to be looked at this summer, and Chelsea ace Ben Chilwell has been linked with a switch to United. His stock has arguably fallen of late, having failed to make England's Euro 2024 squad, but he may feel that a move to Old Trafford could give him a new lease of life.

"Brilliant" Man Utd player close to exit

Taking to X, Romano said the Manchester United defender Willy Kambwala is now close to joining Villarreal on a permanent deal, bringing an end to his time at Old Trafford: "Villarreal are closing in on deal to sign Willy Kambwala from Manchester United! Understand it will be a permanent transfer for fee around €10m for 2004 born CB."

Romano then provided more details on Saturday morning: "€10m package, add-on included. Contract until June 2029. Medical tomorrow (Sunday). Man United have buy back clause and sell-on clause. Here we go, confirmed."

It is a shame to see Kambwala leave, but assuming his exit is confirmed soon, he should be remembered for some passionate and effective performances last season, filling in amid a host of injury problems at centre-back.

Ten Hag is clearly an admirer of the £7,500-a-week-earning 19-year-old, too, saying: "[Kambwala] has been training a while with us and progressing well. The next generation need to step in and he is doing brilliant. The challenge for him is doing it consistently."

The fact that United are seemingly happy to let Kambwala leave does suggest that new signings are coming in at the back, with Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite looking like the standout options currently. Signing two of the three could be perfect, however, considering Lisandro Martinez feels like the only genuinely excellent option there currently. Bid submitted: Man Utd lodge offer to sign the “English Neymar”

Manchester United’s esteemed Carrington academy is always one of the names thrown about when people discuss the topic of which Premier League club has the best youth setup. It is a debate that has raged on for years, and there is no right or wrong answer.

United’s academy has produced some sublime players over the years, from the Busby Babes to the Class of ‘92. Currently, the Red Devils have several academy graduates making waves in their first team, including Marcus Rashford and 2022 FA Youth Cup-winning duo Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

Arsenal’s Hale End also boasts some exceptional players. They are responsible for the likes of one of England’s best current talents, Bukayo Saka. The Gunners also produced the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson, who are in their first team at the moment.

Another notable academy is at Cobham, where Chelsea greats such as John Terry were produced, as well as current players Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount, with the latter now at United.

However, one of the country’s best behind-the-scenes talents at the moment was produced by Tottenham’s academy. He is tipped to do big things in professional football, but there have recently been rumours linking him with a move away from the club this summer.

Man Utd target Spurs academy star

Spurs’ exciting young talent, Mikey Moore, made his debut for the Lilywhites’ first team at the back end of last season, but has recently been linked with a transfer during the summer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Red Devils are one of two clubs to make an offer to Spurs to purchase Moore this summer, who can sign his first professional contract next month when he turns 17.

Mikey Moore makes his Tottenham debut

The other interested parties are believed to be United’s bitter rivals, Manchester City, and German giants Borussia Dortmund. The Champions League runners-up believe the teenage sensation is a “huge” talent. He could follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as young English talents to switch to the Signal Iduna Park.

Why Moore would be a good signing

There is no doubt that Moore is one of the best young talents, not only in England, but in European football. Football talent scout Jacek Kulig described him as the “English Neymar”, and it is clear to see why when looking at his statistics and playstyle.

Last season for Spurs’ Under-18s side, Moore played 14 times. His record was astounding, scoring 16 goals and registering nine assists. He was rewarded with his Premier League debut, a one-minute cameo against Man City, before playing two minutes in the final game of the season against Sheffield United.

In terms of Moore’s profile, he is a versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the frontline. He is a slick dribbler, using a low centre of gravity to slalom past defenders, as well as being a superb finisher. David Hytner of The Guardian explained that the youngster is a player who can “quicken the pulse”, especially when he takes on a defender, “gliding past them as if they are not there”.

This was further evidenced by Harry Brooks, a professional football coach working with academy and senior players, who was recently in conversation with The Athletic. Brooks explained that Moore is a “beautiful close-control dribbler” who is known to be “the go-to guy” when his side is attacking.

Kulig compared him to Neymar for good reason. In fact, you can see a further example of why that is with the goal below, against France at the Under-17 European Championship.

Note the way Moore receives the ball on the half-turn and lets it run across his body before he even takes his first touch. The youngster then bursts into space past three defenders before sharply changing direction. He has lightning-quick feet, which helps him to evade the final defender with a clever dummy, opening up space for a shot which he scored from. It is certainly a goal similar to something Neymar would score in his prime.

The 16-year-old has bags of potential and heaps of expectation around him, although having previously been called “down to earth”, it must not be something he allows to get to his head. Moore has all the tools to become one of the all-time great England players, and it is certainly an encouraging start to his young career. Perhaps we will see him rise to the top of football in front of the Stretford End in the coming years.
