Fynn Hudson-Prentice is to join Sussex from Derbyshire at the end of the season.Hudson-Prentice, the 25-year-old seamer, developed through the Sussex pathway and played seven first-team games for the club in 2014 and 2015. He was released at the end of 2016.The MCC Young Cricketers programme gave him another chance, though, and he was signed by Derbyshire in 2019. He is the club’s equal leading wicket-taker (with 21 at 24.95) in the LV= Insurance County Championship this season. He also made 99 in his maiden first-class appearance for the club and featured in the side that made it to T20’s Finals Day in 2019. As such, he is seen as a multi-dimensional all-rounder who can contribute in all formats.”I remember encountering Fynn at a Lord’s Test match when he was with the MCC Young Cricketers and really noticing a change in the way he was going about things since leaving Sussex,” Sussex’s T20 Head Coach, James Kirtley, said. “I kept tabs on him as he went off to Derbyshire and it has been exciting to see him do really well over the last couple of years.”Fynn has grown as a player and a person. He’s a Sussex lad, he’s a performer, a match-winner and his skill-set gives us real balance in our sides in all three formats. That ticks the boxes for us with the strategy we’ve got and will continue to pursue.”The news is a blow to Derbyshire, though, who are in the middle of a poor season. They are bottom of the North Group in the Championship and seventh in the North Group of the T20 Blast. They are also being sued by a former club stalwart, Tony Palladino.”I’m massively grateful for the time I’ve spent at Derbyshire over the past three seasons,” Hudson-Prentice said, “and I wish the club all the best for the future.”Although I enjoyed my time at the club, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to go back home to where it all began. I’m really looking forward to the next chapter of my career at Hove.”
Everton have plenty of problems, but Sean Dyche will be hoping that Dominic Calvert-Lewin can stay fit and that his frontline can muster enough firepower to rise above the relegation one and avoid another fear-inducing battle against the drop.
It's not been a great few years for the Merseysiders, though last term's travails were somewhat skewed by an eight-point deduction in the Premier League. Take that away, and the Toffees actually finished 12th, only one point behind Crystal Palace in the top ten.
Everton manager Sean Dyche
It remains to be seen whether Everton will indeed have enough up top to turn the tide following a poor start to the season, but having a dynamic former forward such as Richarlison would be nice…
Why Everton sold Richarlison
Everton signed Richarlison from Watford in a £40m deal in the summer of 2018, and though this was a tall figure for an up-and-coming forward, his start to life in Liverpool led Gary Lineker to hail the "bargain".
Theo-walcott-richarlison-everton
He'd complete 152 appearances over five years, scoring 53 goals and assisting 13 more, but when Tottenham Hotspur came calling in 2022 and presented the club with a £60m offer, it was accepted in a heartbeat.
And that recouped sum looks to be more and more masterful business by the month, with the Brazil international foundering through his debut campaign in the capital, scoring one Premier League goal across 27 matches, even being branded a "joke" by talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino.
Richarlison might have been a menace for the Blues but he's fallen by the wayside since leaving, albeit enjoying a bright purple patch during the 2023/24 season.
Still, as per Football Transfers, the 26-year-old is currently worth just £28m, meaning that he has suffered a depreciation totalling £32m, or, to put it another way, a 53% drop.
Tottenham forward Richarlison
And anyway, Everton now has a talented winger who's more valuable than their erstwhile talisman, and his name is Dwight McNeil.
Everton have hit gold on Dwight McNeil
Lauded for his "magic" creative quality by journalist Joe Thomas, McNeil is a playmaking monster and has been one of Everton's most underrated players since signing from Burnley in 2022 for a £20m fee by then-manager Frank Lampard.
Everton winger Dwight McNeil
Everton might have made a torrid start to the campaign but McNeil has been breathtaking. As per Sofascore, the 24-year-old has averaged 4.3 key passes per game and he is proving to be a linchpin for a side that views his playmaking ability as indispensable.
And it's reflected through his rise in value. Football Transfers record McNeil at £30m, meaning that he is higher-rated than Richarlison and enjoying a more significant impact over these past few years.

Big picturePakistan’s southern Africa adventure has moved to Zimbabwe, where they will play three T20Is and two Tests, seemingly under less pressure than they were across the border. Zimbabwe have not qualified for the T20 World Cup, neither are they part of the World Test Championship. They are, as Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq put it, a side that has “nothing to lose”, which transfers the pressure onto the so-called stronger opposition, who are expected to win.Certainly, in T20Is, that has been the case. Pakistan have a 100% record against Zimbabwe with victories in all 14 matches they’ve played against each other. The most recent was in a series in November last year where Pakistan were dominant in chasing targets in all three matches. They’ve become even better at that, achieving their highest and second-highest successful targets in the recently concluded series in South Africa. So Zimbabwe will need to have a plan to stop a prolific top order and their captain Sean Williams is confident they can, with a crop of youngsters that he called “generation next” of Zimbabwe cricket.Zimbabwe have three uncapped players in their squad – batter Tadiwanashe Marumani , fast bowler Tanaka Chivanga and spinner Tapiwa Mufudza . The Zimbabwe players have also recently played in a domestic T20 competition, ensuring format-specific game time going into this series. In fact, Marumani and Mufudza were among the top performers in the tournament.Related

But there is a much bigger cause for Zimbabwe than that of a smaller nation making a statement against a bigger one or any attempt to rebuild. Their cricket community is still reeling from news of their former captain and coach Heath Streak being handed an eight-year ban for breaching the ICC’s anti-corruption code and will want to change the narrative around the game in their country. That means they have everything to play for and Pakistan will be wary of an outfit that could see its very reputation as being at stake.Form guideZimbabwe LLLLL (last five completed T20Is, most recent first) Pakistan WWLWWIn the spotlightCraig Ervine and Brendan Taylor missed out on Zimbabwe’s trip to the UAE to play Afghanistan for health-related reasons but are back and in form for this series. The pair enjoyed successful runs in the recently completed domestic T20 competition finishing as the highest and third-highest run-scorer respectively, both with strike rates above 165. Where Zimbabwe lacked in big-hitting in the UAE, they’ll hope that can be made up here, not to mention the experience both players bring. Williams called their inclusion “massive for the team”.Pakistan have got a prolific top order•AFP/Getty Images
Because of the success of their top three, Pakistan’s middle order was largely untested in South Africa and Misbah identified it as the area he would like to see improvement on this trip. The focus will be on Pakistan’s most experienced batter Mohammad Hafeez and least experienced Haider Ali. Neither had a particularly profitable tour of South Africa – Hafeez scored 55 runs in three innings and Haidar 29. Hafeez has the recent form to call on, though. He had a solid run against New Zealand last December but Haidar has to go further back. His last notable T20I knock was an undefeated 66 against Zimbabwe, so perhaps the familiar opposition will spur him on.Team newsTaylor will return to the top of the order with Ervine slotting in the top four. After being dropped from the final match against Afghanistan, Wesley Madhevere could have the opportunity to play his first T20I at home. It would be amiss not to include a specialist spinner. The choices are Wellington Masakadza and offspinner Mufudza, who could earn his first international cap.Zimbabwe (probable): 1 Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, 2 Brendan Taylor 3 Sean Williams (capt), 4 Craig Ervine, 5 Wesley Madhevere, 6 Regis Chakabva (wk), 7 Ryan Burl, 8 Donald Tiripano, 9 Wellington Masakadza/Tapiwa Mufudza 10 Blessing Muzarabani, 11 Richard NgaravaThere’s no good reason for Pakistan to deviate from the XI that beat South Africa in Centurion apart from trying to create a spot for Usman Qadir, especially given Zimbabwe’s struggle against Rashid Khan. To do that, Pakistan may have to go in with a seamer or a batter short which could see Haris Rauf or Asif Ali miss out.Pakistan (probable): 1 Mohammad Rizwan (wk) 2 Babar Azam (capt), 3 Fakhar Zaman 4 Mohammad Hafeez, 5 Haider Ali, 6 Asif Ali, 7 Faheem Ashraf, 8 Mohammad Nawaz, 9 Hasan Ali, 10 Shaheen Shah Afridi, 11 Haris Rauf/Usman QadirThere has been no international cricket in Harare since January 2020 and no T20Is since July 2018. Pakistan played in that match and successfully chased down 184 against Australia. If conditions are similar, we can expect runs to flow, though perhaps not at the same rate as on the Highveld. Misbah expects the bounce to be lower and there may even be some assistance for spinners. The weather in Harare is set to be balmy, with the temperature around 26 degree Celsius.Stats and trivia Zimbabwe and Pakistan have played 14 T20Is against each other, with Pakistan winning all 14. Babar Azam needs 60 runs to reach 2000 T20I runs. If he gets there in any of his next six innings, he will become the fastest player to the milestone, ahead of Virat Kohli’s 56 innings. Williams is 73 away from becoming the second Zimbabwean to 1000 T20I runs.Quotes”Pressure is something you can’t touch and you can’t see. It’s just a feeling. Once we can get them [our players] to control that, we will be on the right track. It is going to be a test but we are going to back our youngsters and give them a good run.” “Every series is an opportunity to learn. The team is not that experienced, except for three or four guys. We’d like to give chances to some of the younger guys and see how it goes. But at the same time, Zimbabwe are a gutsy side. They’ve got nothing to lose. They play without pressure. Hopefully, we play our best cricket and play to our standards.”

It's been an interesting summer for Arsenal so far this year, as with some impressive preseason wins against the likes of Manchester United, Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen, there is much to be cheerful and hopeful about heading into a campaign with so much on the line.
However, as things stand, the only signing made that has changed the first team remains Riccardo Calafiori, and while he looks to be a quality addition, it doesn't feel enough in the face of the unstoppable Manchester City.
Moreover, while the club managed to get an impressive fee for Emile Smith Rowe earlier in the window, they have struggled to sell several other players who, if they stay, are set to remain on the periphery this year.
One of those players is Eddie Nketiah, and while he's a good striker, the Gunners have already been linked with another centre-forward this summer who'd be an ideal upgrade.
The latest on Eddie Nketiah
Nketiah only made 37 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions last season, amounting to 1393 minutes, and so it was always quite clear that the plan this summer was going to be to sell him.
It appeared that would happen late last month when French giants Marseille made a concerted effort to bring him to the French Riviera, although the potential fee was a significant sticking point for both teams.
The Gunners demanded a fee of up to €30m, which is about £26m, while the Ligue 1 side wanted to pay closer to €20m, which is just £17m.
It looked like a deal had been reached late last week for a loan with an obligation to buy closer to Arsenal's valuation. However, transfers expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed yesterday afternoon that the deal was dead.
This situation suits neither the player nor the club, but Arteta and Co could still bring in a dream replacement for the Englishman this summer, which may see him banished from the squad altogether.
Why Jonathan David could banish Nketiah from the team
Yes, the player in question is LOSC Lille ace Jonathan David, who was touted for a move to the Emirates earlier this summer, and for a fee as low as £20m.
LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David
This reasonable fee, primarily due to his contract expiring next summer, is one of the key reasons that the Gunners could still sign him despite missing out on the money that the sale Nketiah would've brought in, which could be bad news for the Englishman.
The Canadian international would be an instant upgrade on the North Londoners' number 14, and his output over the last four years is a testament to that.

For example, since the start of the 2020/21 campaign, the Brooklyn-born marksman, whom journalist Tony Marinaro described as "one of the best strikers in the world," has scored 84 goals and provided 18 assists in 183 appearances. This means he's averaged a goal involvement every 1.79 games – a level of consistency that should excite fans.
In this same period, the striker he could replace in Arteta's squad has scored 31 goals and provided seven assists in 132 appearances, which equates to a less impressive average of a goal involvement every 3.47 games.

Moreover, according to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League, the 54-capped international sits in the top 14% of strikers for non-penalty expected goals and actual non-penalty goals, suggesting he's excellent at getting himself into goalscoring positions and just as good at finishing them off.
Ultimately, if failing to sell Nketiah impacts Arsenal's plans to sign more expensive targets this summer, bringing David to replace him in the squad wouldn't be a bad idea. In fact, even if he is sold, the Canadian's impressive goal record would make him a brilliant addition to Arteta's squad.

Adams starts against BrentfordBournemouth off to a strong start under IraolaInternational break follows this weekendFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?
U.S. international Tyler Adams was given the start for Bournemouth in their away contest against Brentford — his first since last season on March 30, a 2-1 win for The Cherries.
The move is a strong sign of faith from manager Andoni Iraola as Adams has been battling injuries throughout his time at Bournemouth and has been limited to just five appearances for the club since joining in 2023. The 25-year-old finished a months-long recovery following the Copa America and made his return to action as a substitute on Oct. 26.
Adams would end up playing 67 minutes in the match, a 3-2 loss for Bournemouth. The midfielder showed some flashes of his best, with a key pass and was the team leader in tackles(four) and interceptions (two).
AdvertisementTHE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite the loss, Adams showed flashes of his best and wasn't lacking for confidence as evidenced below:
Now Adams and the USMNT fan base will await to see if he will be included in U.S. manager Mauricio Pochettino's squad call ups this weekend.
DID YOU KNOW?
The defeat for the Cherries snaps a three-game unbeaten streak for a team many expected to be on the bottom half of the table. The loss sees Iraola's surprising side fall to 11th on the table, pending other weekend results in the Premier League. Bournemouth haven't beaten Brentford in their last six matchups.

Newcastle United endured a horrendous injury crisis in 2023/24, with numerous key first-team members missing for large spells, subsequently having an impact on the Magpies’ league standings.
Eddie Howe’s side finished seventh in the Premier League, missing out on a Europa Conference League place after Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph.
Nick Pope and Joelinton are just two examples, with the shot-stopper missing over four months with a shoulder injury, whilst the Brazilian midfielder only returned for the final few outings of the season after undergoing surgery in January.
The injury setbacks highlighted huge issues for Howe in terms of squad depth and the quality of players coming in to replace the first-team members who were unfortunate to suffer frequent fitness issues.
The Magpies have undoubtedly aimed to fill those gaps, targeting numerous players in various positions to provide more competition and squad depth ahead of a vital 2024/25 campaign.
Newcastle’s attempts in the transfer market
Whilst Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy and Lloyd Kelly have all already arrived on Tyneside this summer, Howe is still targeting more players to help mount a push for the Premier League’s top four.
In recent days, links for a new forward have been constant, with numerous players touted with a move to St James’ Park this summer.
Juventus forward Federico Chiesa has been rumoured to be on Newcastle’s radar, with the Italian available this summer for a cut-price with his deal expiring in 12 months time.
The Magpies have also been battling Everton to sign Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto, but it appears they are more interested in agreeing a deal for one of his teammates during the off-season.
Wilfried Gnonto
Crysencio Summerville set the Championship alight last season, achieving a total of 28 combined goals and assists, but it wasn’t enough to secure promotion for Daniel Farke’s side.
As a result, he could depart Elland Road this summer, putting Newcastle and sides such as Chelsea and Crystal Palace on red alert.
However, he’s still valued lower than one current Magpies talent who, like Summerville, enjoyed a breakout season as a young talent during the 2023/24 campaign.
How much Lewis Miley is worth in 2024
Youngster Lewis Miley came through Newcastle's academy, with the boyhood Magpies fan costing the club nothing – which could result in a hefty profit in the years ahead.
He's often featured in a three-man midfield for Howe's side, with the midfielder fitting straight into the side – showing no evidence of his tender age of just 18.
Since his first start against Bournemouth in November, Miley has made 17 Premier League appearances for Howe's team, with the teenager impressing at St James' Park.
Eight months on from his maiden first-team start, his market value has skyrocketed to £23m as per Football Transfers, an indication of his excellent start to his professional career on Tyneside.

His subsequent value is higher than fellow Magpie and midfield partner Joelinton, who’s only valued at £15m just a handful of years after his £40m move to Tyneside.
It’s also more than current target Summerville, who’s rumoured to be available for just £17m this window – a bargain for a player of his talent and potential, with Newcastle potentially able to secure a phenomenal young star to feature alongside Miley for many years.
Crysencio Summerville.
Although it's still very early days for the teenager in terms of his professional career, it certainly does bode well for Miley and the Magpies, with the young academy graduate undoubtedly a huge asset for the Magpies in the years to come.
However, the club need to keep developing him, with Howe needing to give him consistent game time over the coming years in order for him to reach his potential.

The talent has certainly impressed in the Premier League this season.
100th hundred bat sells for more than £40,000 at Christie’s online auction
ESPNcricinfo staff17-Nov-2020The bat with which Sir Geoffrey Boycott scored his 100th first-class hundred in 1977, and a maroon West Indies cap worn by Sir Viv Richards in 1980, were among the big-ticket items at an online auction of Boycott’s personal collection of memorabilia, which has realised a total of £207,625 across 130 lots. The auction, which was conducted by Christie’s in London, ran for three weeks from October 27 to November 16, and was described by the auction-house as “one of the last great collections of cricketing memorabilia left in private hands”.The auction opened with the sale of an original scorebook from Boycott’s home debut for Ackworth Cricket Club in Yorkshire as a 13-year old in 1954, which is inscribed with the entry ‘J. Christie’s had estimated that the bat would sell for £30,000- 50,000, and sure enough it eventually realised £43,750.Richards’ Test cap – inscribed ‘V. Richards 1980′ – had been expected to fetch £5,000-8,000 but realised £10,625, while a job lot of Boycott’s own Test caps, including a ceremonial cap embroidered with “422/1” to represent his cap numbers in Test and ODI cricket, realised £11,250 from an estimate of £2000-£3000.Boycott, who turned 80 last month, said he was “really pleased” that the collection had been so well received by the public.”Knowing that these items have gone to people who will treasure them and enjoy them as much I have over the years, is all I could have hoped for,” he said.Boycott’s collection also included the bat with which he went past Garry Sobers’ then world-record Test runs total of 8032, at Delhi in 1981 – that fetched £4750 – while the one with which he scored his Test-best 246 not out against India at Headingley in 1967, an innings for which he was then dropped for slow scoring, was sold for £3,500″The fact that they can now be seen in the light of day instead of being in boxes in my attic is fantastic,” Boycott added. “I am humbled by the interest shown and wish to thank all those people who bid and those who bought a small piece of sporting history in the Christie’s auction.”Dominic Thurlow-Wood, Christies’ Head of Sale said: “The great esteem in which Sir Geoffrey Boycott is held, not only by cricketing fans who witnessed his sporting prowess in action on the field, but by subsequent generations of supporters, ensures that these items will be coveted for years to come. It has been a great pleasure to work with such a unique collection.”
